Dear Co-op Community,
Thank you for your continued support and appreciation of your Co-op during this difficult time. We are continuing to work daily to adjust to operating our store during a pandemic. We are extremely proud of our hard-working staff and how they have stepped up to serve this community in our time of need.
Changes we have implemented:
As a Certified Water Retail Facility, our water refill station is open! Co-op staff will assist in filling bottles and sanitize the station regularly. Bottled filtered water is also available in gallon-sized plastic containers.
Please refrain from bringing in your own reusable containers and mugs/cups at this time. Water bottles bigger than one gallon are allowed to be refilled. Reusable bags are also allowed; to minimize risk for our staff, thank you for bagging your own groceries when using reusable.
Face coverings are required by the Co-op and the State of California. Those who can’t wear a face covering due to health conditions and children under 2 years old are exempt. Thank you!
All sales are final at this time. No Refunds, Returns or Exchanges.
Store Hours and Occupancy
Our business hours have changed; we are open daily from 7 am til 10 pm.
We are limiting the number of shoppers in the store at any given time in order to allow for social distancing and the safest possible shopping experience for our shoppers and staff. Occasionally there may be a short wait, but the shopping experience you’ll find once you come inside the doors will be worth it!
We ask that our members and shoppers reserve the hour of 7-8 a.m. for those who are age 60 or older, pregnant or otherwise at high risk of infection.
If you do not fall into any of these categories, we invite you to shop with us starting at 8 a.m. each day. We will continue the practice of limiting how many shoppers are in the store and thank you for your cooperation as we continue to make our store safe and accessible.
At The Checkout
We are happy to continue bagging your groceries in our brown paper bags or complimentary cardboard boxes. If you are using a reusable bag, we ask that you please bag your own groceries. You’re also welcome to use a cart or basket to transfer items to bags in your car.
In order to minimize potential cross-contamination, we encourage all shoppers to use credit and debit cards whenever possible for a touchless transaction. At this time, we are not able to offer cash back on debit card purchases, but there is an ATM in our store that you are welcome to use. If you’d rather use cash, we will continue to accept it, but ask that you consider buying a Co-op gift card at our Customer Service Desk to use for your Co-op purchases. The more we can limit contact with each other, the better!
In The Aisles
We are proud to offer a wide variety of products in bulk, and have made adjustments to meet our community’s needs while maintaining safety. Although at this time, we can not allow reusable containers, our Bulk Department still offers great value! Gravity dispensers are now open, and you’ll find rice, beans, grains, nuts, oats, coffee and more! Other bulk items, including culinary and medicinal herbs, are available pre-packed.
Bulk soaps, lotions, detergents and more are also available.
We continue to place and receive orders every day. Some products have been out of stock or in short supply, but we are here to help you find what you need! If you need assistance, please ask!
We are often unable to answer calls regarding items in stock. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Place your order online and pick up at the Co-op without leaving your car. Visit shop.sac.coop for more information. It’s easy! Product availability may vary, but there is a wide assortment available.
Home Delivery Options
Home delivery is available through Instacart and Postmates which offer access to both groceries and prepared meals.
The grill, sandwich bar, taqueria, smoothie and juice bar and coffee bar remain open. Many of your favorite soups, salads and entrees, rotisserie chickens and family meals are available in Grab & Go.
Specialty salads can be made to order, and some of your favorites are available to be packed to order in the Chef’s Case.
We are packaging our made-in-house baked goods so that no portion of the item is exposed.
Cooking School & Community Learning Center
In person cooking classes have been postponed until further notice. If you have any questions about classes, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional Precautionary Measures
We will continue to update our protocols and procedures as needed to ensure the Co-op is taking steps to ensure a safe and healthy place for all. Some of the steps taken include:
- All Co-op employees are wearing face coverings. This is an easy practice to help maximize safety for everyone; thank you for wearing one too when you shop in our store.
- Shopping carts and baskets are sanitized after each use.
- The Co-op is making an hourly sweep throughout the store to sanitize surfaces like refrigerator door handles, railings, drinking fountains, door handles and elevator buttons.
- Plexiglass screens have been placed at each register.
- Regular sanitizing of checkstands and other public areas.
- We have suspended self-serve sampling. If you would like to sample a product, please ask!
- Sanitizing stations are placed around the store for customers to conveniently use. There is also a handwashing sink in our Bulk Department for everyone’s use.
We anticipate that we will continue to make changes to our business operations to protect our staff and community. We will keep you updated on social media, our website, and through email.
Again, we want to thank each and every one of our members and shoppers for choosing the Co-op. We take great pride in being your trusted source for healthy food and information, we take our role in the community very seriously. We thank you for putting your trust in your Co-op as a safe place to shop.
