Dear Co-op Community,
Thank you for your continued support and appreciation of your Co-op during this difficult time. We are continuing to work daily to adjust to operating our store during a pandemic. We are extremely proud of our hard-working staff and how they have stepped up to serve this community in our time of need.
Effective immediately, we have instituted “hero pay” of an additional $2 per hour for our hourly employees to recognize their hard work, positivity and courage as we work to meet our shoppers evolving needs.
Additionally, we want to share some more changes we are implementing immediately:
We are not accepting Refunds, Returns or Exchanges at this time.
Store Hours and Occupancy
Our business hours have changed to 7 am-9 pm until further notice.
We are limiting the number of shoppers in the store at any given time to no more than 50 shoppers in order to allow for social distancing and the safest possible shopping experience for our shoppers and staff. The line is moving steadily, and we thank you for your patience. We believe that the shopping experience you’ll find once you come inside the doors will make it worth the wait!
We ask that our members and shoppers reserve the hour of 7-8 a.m. for those who are age 60 or older, pregnant or otherwise at high risk of infection.
If you do not fall into any of these categories, we invite you to shop with us starting at 8 a.m. each day. We will continue the practice of limiting how many shoppers are in the store to no more than 50 people and thank you for your cooperation as we continue to make our store safe and accessible.
At The Checkout
We are happy to continue bagging your groceries in our brown paper bags or complimentary cardboard boxes. At this time, we ask that you refrain from bringing in your own bags.
In order to minimize potential cross-contamination, we encourage all shoppers to use credit and debit cards whenever possible. At this time, we are not able to offer cash back on debit card purchases, but there is an ATM in our store that you are welcome to use. If you’d rather use cash, we will continue to accept it, but ask that you consider buying a Co-op gift card at our Customer Service Desk to use for your Co-op purchases. The more we can limit contact with each other, the better!
In The Aisles
Look for changes in our Bulk Department as we are offering pre-packed bulk goods to maximize safety. While we don’t have everything in stock, we are receiving orders every day and continue to offer staples, snacks, dried fruit and treats as well as bulk herbs and spices.
Keep in mind that our entire community is experiencing this together, so make sure to buy only what you need to get by until your next shopping trip. This will ensure that there is enough for everyone, which is the heart of cooperation. We are working closely with all our partners along the supply chain and are confident that there is enough product available to meet the needs of all shoppers over the next few months.
We continue to place and receive orders every day. Some products have been out of stock or in short supply, but we are here to help you find what you need! If you need assistance, please ask!
We are unable to answer calls regarding items in stock. It is true that some items are out of stock but we receive orders every day and we remain busy stocking shelves to accommodate necessities as best we can.
Now you can place your order online and pick up at the Co-op without leaving your car. Visit shop.sac.coop for more information. Product availability may vary, but there is a wide assortment of fresh produce, grocery staples and specialty items available.
Home Delivery Options
Home delivery is available through Instacart and Postmates which offer access to both groceries and prepared meals.
The grill, sandwich bar, taqueria, smoothie and juice bar and coffee bar remain open. Many of your favorite soups, salads and entrees, rotisserie chickens and family meals are available in Grab & Go.
We are packaging our made-in-house baked goods so that no portion of the item is exposed.
Cooking School & Community Learning Center
At this time, all classes have been suspended until further notice. We will reschedule as many classes as possible and are communicating with the registered students on a class-by-class basis. If you have any questions about classes, please contact email@example.com.
Additional Precautionary Measures
We will continue to update our protocols and procedures as needed to ensure the Co-op is taking steps to ensure a safe and healthy place for all. Some of the steps taken include:
- The Co-op is making an hourly sweep throughout the store to sanitize surfaces like refrigerator door handles, railings, drinking fountains, door handles and elevator buttons.
- Regular sanitizing of checkstands and other public areas.
- We have suspended self-serve sampling. If you would like to sample a product, please ask!
- Many Bulk Herbs are available in prepacked baggies. For self-serve herbs, there are extra scoops available so please use a clean scoop every time.
- Sanitizing stations are placed all around the store for customers to conveniently use. There is also a handwashing sink in our Bulk Department for everyone’s use.
We anticipate that we will continue to make changes to our business operations to protect our staff and community. We will keep you updated on social media, our website, and through email.
Again, we want to thank each and every one of our members and shoppers for choosing the Co-op. We take great pride in being your trusted source for healthy food and information, we take our role in the community very seriously. We thank you for putting your trust in your Co-op as a safe place to shop.
