Autumn Apple Crisp
Tart crisp apples work best for baking. Look for Jonagold or Jonathan, Pippin, Rome, Granny Smith, Pink Lady or Fuji. All will work well in this recipe!
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Combine the flour, brown sugar, spices and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces, then work it into the flour with two knives or your fingers until the small pieces begin to hold together.
  3. Peel the fruit and slice it thinly. Toss it with the sugar and lemon juice, then lay it in a 9- or 10-inch pie plate.
  4. Cover fruit with crisp topping, and bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is nicely brown and the apples are cooked.
