Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 egg
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- salt
- pepper
- garlic
- onion, shredded (optional)
- chives (optional)
- oil or fat, for frying
- sour cream or applesauce, for garnish (optional)
Cooking Instructions
1. Mix mashed potatoes, egg, flour, salt, pepper, garlic, and any optional ingredients, into
mashed potatoes.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add the oil or fat. Form potato mixture
into patties.
3. Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the hot oil – do not crowd the pan. Fry until deep
golden on both sides.
4. Remove to a rack to drain oil, or a plate lines with paper towel or paper bag.
5. Serve with a dollop of sour cream or applesauce.
